Twisted Gyros: Reviews & Ratings

The food was absolutely incredible, they were very busy due to the recent Oregon live article about this restaurant being number two in the US on Yelp. However, despite being busy, the service was absolutely incredible, the two owners and their daughter did an amazing job keeping customers in the loop on wait times while also keeping the restaurant clean and moving smoothly, and also helping the long line get pushed through efficiently. I look forward to coming back soon! I highly recommend that you check this place out if you haven't already. Some of the best gyros I've ever had and their fusion of other foods are absolutely worth trying as well.

This was my second visit and I brought someone with me. Had the veggie gyro and it was so moist. Some falafel I have had before were dry but not these. The service was outstanding. Guy behind counter cleaned as people left and cleared out table. Very polite staff and great lunch.

Twisted Gyros – A Well-Deserved Spot Among the Best Twisted Gyros in Hillsboro has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a food truck, and its recent recognition as the No. 2 restaurant on Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025 proves just how much it has resonated with food lovers. The Oregonian highlighted the restaurant’s “glowing 5-star reviews” and fusion approach to Mediterranean cuisine, which has clearly struck a chord with diners. Having tried Twisted Gyros years ago when it was still a food truck, I was eager to see if the quality and flavors I remembered had carried over to its new brick-and-mortar location. After my recent visit, I can confidently say it has not only maintained its excellence but elevated the experience. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma Gyro, while my cousins opted for the Bulgogi Beef Bowl. We also shared fries and pita bread with hummus on the side. Every bite was just as delicious as I remembered—the fries were crispy and loaded with flavor, the pita was fresh and warm, and the hummus was smooth and flavorful. The garlic aioli sauce was an especially nice touch. Despite being busy, the service was impressively fast, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It’s clear that Twisted Gyros has built a strong reputation not just for its food, but also for its great customer experience. One thing that really stood out was the portion sizes. In a time when many restaurants seem to be shrinking their servings—so-called “shrinkflation”—that’s definitely not the case here. The portions were large and filling, making the meals not only delicious but also a great value. The recognition in Yelp’s rankings is well deserved. The fusion menu, featuring everything from lamb gyros to mango habanero chicken and even Korean bulgogi beef, offers something unique while still delivering on quality and taste. The Twisted Fries, which Yelp specifically called out, are a standout and absolutely worth ordering. If you haven’t been to Twisted Gyros yet, it’s definitely worth the trip. Whether you’re a longtime fan from their food truck days or a first-time visitor, you won’t be disappointed.

We stopped in for lunch and it was steady between in house dining and take out. The atmosphere was clean and fresh and the counter person was friendly and helpful in regards to menu choices. I ordered the Twisted Fries and I didn't modify a thing and i had the shwarma chicken on this. On the menu, this item seemed like an odd flavor pairing but it works and I enjoyed every single bite! The fries were crispy which worked with the toppings. My boyfriend ordered the lamb gyro and he said it was OK. He wished the lamb meat was hot (heat) and he wasn't a fan of the tiziki but he would like to clarify that he's a food snob and that he's like this at home too which I can verify. He did enjoy the pickled onions in the gyro. Overall, I would come back as the food, pricing and great customer service were well worth it even if my foodie boyfriend carries unspoken, ridiculously high expectations.

The first thing that you see when you enter are the bright clean interiors- they just draw you in. Quick orders placed at the counter and then had a substantial wait for the order to be ready. The wait was totally worth it though! The falafel gyro was one of the most flavorful gyros I have ever had. I was just surprised by all the ingredients in there -- loved the pickled onions! The chicken shawarma rice bowl was great too, and came with 4 different sauces. We ended up not even using any of the sauces because there was no lack of flavor. Also, got plain fries which were also perfectly cooked. Be prepared for leftovers as this stuff is insanely filling! Can't wait to try other items on their menu.

My mom and I were visiting Portland and decided to check out this gyro spot for dinner, and wow, it was SO good! We ordered the bacon on top gyro and fries, and even though we arrived around 6 PM when it was super busy, it was completely worth the wait. Right after we ordered, most of their sides had sold out, and there was a 30-minute wait, but let me tell you, it was worth every second! The flavors in the gyro blended together perfectly, and the portions were huge. We split the gyro and fries and still barely managed to finish it. It was so good that we went back again for lunch the next day! This time, we ordered the whipped feta, and it was absolutely delicious. While it’s great with pita bread, dipping the fries in it takes it to another level! It’s soft, creamy, and cheesy, which pairs perfectly with the crispy fries. Well worth the drive and the wait. 10/10 recommend to anyone looking for a gyro that will make every other one taste bland in comparison!

This spot is great! We heard that Twisted Gyros was good and after seeing all the amazing reviews, we drove out from Portland to give it a try for lunch. We were not disappointed! Tried the chicken shawarma gyro and the lamb, both delicious. This might be some for the best lamb I’ve had in a long time— not too heavy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Delicious sauces as well. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful and the restaurant is cute and clean. I wish I lived closer so I could go for lunch more often, but we will definitely be back!
